Review:

I've been excited for this movie, despite some of the deviations from the plot that left me raging after the first movie (i.e. the entire plot line with the mockingjay pin being from Madge). I must say I wasn't disappointed by the movie itself. I must lodge a complaint about the amount of previews that were shown before it however.

After arriving to see the movie with my friend, we settled in at a 6:30 showing, thinking it'd be between 8:30 and 9 when we got out since the movie is a little over two hours long. We, of course, counted on a couple of previews before the movie started, however we received nearly half an hour worth of previews in front of our movie. I can understand two or three previews, but I hardly think it was necessary to show almost ten different previews before the movie started. It got to the point every time I thought the movie was about to start, another preview kicked in. Perhaps Lionsgate didn't do as well as they thought on opening night and thus needs the previews to generate revenue? I can't really think of any logical reason for that many previews in front of any movie.

Once the movie started however, I was pleased to see that many of the major plot points had been left intact for this movie. Katniss and Gale have their moment of romance, she and Peeta still have the issues of getting through their tour as a couple. The casting choices for this movie were also stellar. Finnick is as charming as he is seemingly sleezy, Johanna's mood swings a definitely jumps between the extremes.

One nice thing about this movie is the camera doesn't seem to be as shaky as it was in the first one, though admittedly, there were times it was dizzying to look at the screen. The music was well composed, and all of the actors were fairly fantastic and spot on to the characters in the book.

Unfortunately, I couldn't stay until the end of the credits (a habit I developed from various movies having scenes hidden at the end), so no word if there's actually a sneak of the next one.

Overall, four out of five stars.
